Charismac Engineering Inc. has released Discribe Alive, a solution designed to mass duplicate and distribute CDs and DVDs of live performances. The system comes with the company’s Discribe Alive Master software running on a PowerBook, which masters the audio and/or video recording and communicates through a custom-configured wireless router with the included G4 Xserve via an installed AirPort Extreme card. The Xserve monitors the two custom-built Discribe Alive Target Robot CD/DVD duplicators that burn discs at the rate of over 200 per hour, depending on the amount of content placed on each disc. The Xserve, the wireless router and the duplicators reside inside a shock-mounted rack case that can be closed up and transported to the next venue at the end of the day.
The PowerBook features a 1.5GHz G4 processor, 1GB RAM, an 80GB hard drive and a SuperDrive. Each of the duplicators features eight Plextor 52X CD/DVD/CD-R/DVD-R drives and the Xserve offers an additional FireWire 400 PCI connection. Charismac asks you to contact them for a price quote as Discribe Alive is a scalable solution that is built according to each customer’s needs.
