Internet Service Provider (ISP) EarthLink Inc. offers TotalAccess Internet software to its Windows and Mac users to help simplify dialup connectivity. On Monday, EarthLink announced an expansion of its partnership with high-speed service provider Boingo Wireless Inc. to make Wi-Fi-based Internet connectivity available using the TotalAccess Internet software as well.
The service will be integrated into a forthcoming release of TotalAccess for Mac and Windows, and EarthLink says it will let the company’s customers more easily connect using public Wi-Fi hot spots, corporate Wi-Fi connections, and high-speed wireless connections in the home. Boingo and EarthLink already have an agreement that provides a standalone Wi-Fi service; this expanded arrangement will integrate Wi-Fi access directly into software available to 5.3 million EarthLink customers. A release date for the new software was not announced.
