At Macworld Conference & Expo in Boston, Mass. Harman Multimedia on Tuesday introduced two new speaker products aimed at mobile music users: JBL On Tour and JBL On Stage. JBL On Tour is designed to work with all digital music players, while JBL On Stage has been designed specifically for iPod and iPod minis.
JBL On Tour is a set of portable speakers that fit in the palm of your hand, powered by four AAA batteries. It works not only with portable music players but also CD and DVD players, laptop and desktop computers. The batteries provide 6-watts of total power and are good for about 24 hours of listening time, according to the company. They’re coming in early August and will retail for US$99.95.
JBL On Stage offers 12-watts of power and weighs about a pound. It operates as a dock for iPod users, charging the portable music player. Pricing hasn’t yet been announced, and Harman Multimedia expects the system to debut late this summer.
