Kano Technologies introduced its new X-spand tower storage system on Thursday. Offering up to 1TB of space, X-spand comes with two or four hard drive bays and features a FireWire 800 port that can throttle down to FireWire 400 speeds. Each of the hot-pluggable bays requires no cables and accommodates a Western Digital 3.5-inch IDE drive that can slide in and out to increase the storage capacity; each features an independent FireWire volume. X-spand ships with Dantz Retrospect Express 6.0 backup software. Pricing for the two-bay version is US$455 for 160GB of storage, $499 for 240GB and $799 for 500GB, while the four-bay model is $835 for 320GB, $950 for 480GB and $1,545 for 1TB.
