Textco BioSoftware Inc. on Tuesday announced the release of Gene Inspector 1.6, now available for Mac OS X. The software helps bioscientists with more than 60 standard analyses for nucleic acids and peptides, and can manage multiple sequence alignments, BLAST searching, dot matrix comparisons, and prediction of translation-product peptide properties. Gene Inspector is centered around an electronic “notebook” and illustration tool that lets scientists keep track of information or annotations they might otherwise write down on paper. Gene Inspector is available exclusively for the Mac; a demo version is available for download. Pricing was not available as MacCentral posted this article.
