Developer Wolfram Research has released GUIKit, a free development environment for creating graphical user interfaces (GUIs) that can be implemented in a wide variety of ways. GUIKit is used with Mathematica — Wolfram’s software that offers high-end number crunching, data analysis and other functions required by those in technical fields — to create GUIs that can be deployed as stand-alone client applications or as part of Mathematica’s functionality. GUIKit requires Mathematica 5.0 or higher and will be included in future releases of the software; in the meantime, it can be downloaded from the Wolfram Web site.
