The Week in Games is MacCentral’s weekly roundup of news and information about Mac game updates, releases and other news that didn’t make it onto our regular news pages throughout the week.
Downfall 2.3 released
Norbyte has released Downfall 2.3, a new version of their 3D falling blocks game. The new release features three new boards, new sound effects and some other minor improvements.
Dracosoft updates games
Dracosoft is back in business and has updated its games. Amazed, Avalanche, Burst, Cube It! and Wordsmith have all been updated to v1.1. The new versions have been repackaged for smaller distribution.
Galactica: Anno Dominari 2.2 released
VendorNation.com has released Galactica: Anno Dominari v2.2, an updated version of the game of galactic domination and warfare. The new release features native packaging with Mac OS X installers, splash screen with storyline, improved in-game chat and some minor bug fixes.
Lux 4.0 adds plug-in manager
Sillysoft has released Lux 4.0, an update to their Risk-style world domination strategy game. The new release adds a plug-in manager that lets users preview, install and rate their plug-ins. The interface gets some tweaks and the game now plays natively in French, German and Dutch.
MacHaloMods moves, changes name
MacHaloMods, a Web site dedicated to Mac gamers interested in adding on features and capabilities to MacSoft’s conversion of Halo, has been renamed to Halo Mac Development. It’s also moved to a new Web site, so make sure to update your links.
Pirate Junk 2.0 released
Pirate Junk is a browser-based game influenced by the classic game Taipan, in which you battle at sea in the China Seas during the 1860’s. A major new version has been released in which you warehouse cargo storage, have battles with up to five rogue ships and more.
Tesl8 1.2 released
Alien Sands has released Tesl8 v1.2, an updated version of their puzzle game. The new release contains “miscellaneous bug fixes,” according to the accompanying documentation.
WingNuts 1.3.1 released
Freeverse Software has posted a minor update to WingNuts, its arcade action game. The new 1.3.1 release fixes a crashing bug on level 4 or 5 with the 1.3 release.
X-Plane 7.50 released
Laminar Research has released X-Plane 7.50, a new version of their flight simulator software for Mac and Windows. The new version adds 3D weather and turbulence modeling, new detailed ground effect modeling, new visuals, new instruments and much more.

MacGamer has posted a preview of Rise of Nations, coming soon from MacSoft. Inside Mac Games has posted a review of Delta Force: Black Hawk Down from Aspyr. Apple has posted a QuickTime trailer for Homeworld 2, the forthcoming strategy game from Aspyr Media.
