iCompositions, which allows anyone to upload and share the songs they’ve composed in GarageBand, has announced that each registered user will receive 1GB of free space for hosting their tunes on the site. In addition, iCompositions has launched the “iCompose, iWin” contest, which will give away prizes valued at over US$2,500 to the winners and runners-up in seven categories: Best Overall Song, Best Loop-Only Song, Best Non-Jam Pack Song, Best Vocals, Best Loop-Free Song, Most Helpful Member and Favorite Member. All registered users can nominate their favorite songs, except those they’ve composed, and members for prizes that include a 40GB 4G iPod, two USB keyboards, GarageBand tutorials and books, Jam Packs and more. The nominating process will end on Aug. 27.
Registered users who need more space for their uploaded music can pay $19.99 for a Superstar upgrade, which offers 3GB of storage, free downloadable GarageBand tutorials, discounts on hardware and software and free templates for iComposers, a system that will allow iCompositions members to build their own Web sites. iComposers will debut next week, according to iCompositions, and will offer one free template per user, with additional ones available for $2.99, except to Superstar members.
