Pixar Animation Studios and game publisher THQ Inc. have announced a multi-property publishing deal that grants THQ rights to four of Pixar’s upcoming, wholly-owned animated films. The deal will begin in 2006 with Pixar’s first film produced outside of its current deal with Disney, and covers properties developed for current and future video game systems, handheld and wireless devices, PCs and Macs.
THQ already has had a publishing deal in place with Pixar and Disney since 2002. The company has released games based on the hit film Finding Nemo and is currently working on titles based on the forthcoming films The Incredibles — including Mac versions of a platform brawler and a separate mini-game aimed at younger players — and Cars.
THQ’s deal extends for four years after the release of each film, according to a statement from both companies.
