Luxology LLC on Tuesday introduced Modo, a new 3D modeling software application for Mac OS X and Windows. The new software incorporates real-time subdivision surface and polygonal modeling capabilities. It’s expected to ship in early September 2004 for US$895. It’s available for pre-order for $695.
Luxology vaunts the software’s “artist driven workflow” with interface elements like the “Tool Pipe,” which enables users to combine tools and their modifiers, create tool presets and manage tool handle styles. The software also features “Action Centers,” which allow any action or transformation to be repositioned and reoriented manually or automatically. Modo also includes various falloff types to help with precision modeling.
Luxology is showing Modo at this week’s SIGGRAPH conference in Los Angeles at AMD’s booth, 1334, Apple’s booth, 1401, ATI Technologies’ booth, 1101, and PNY Technologies’ booth, 1746.
