Apple on Tuesday introduced Production Suite, a new package that combines together Final Cut Pro HD, Apple’s recently released Motion software, and DVD Studio Pro 3.
Final Cut Pro HD is the latest release of Apple’s video editing software, adding the capability to capture, edit and output DV, Standard Definition (SD) and High Definition (HD) video using FireWire. It supports native DVCPRO HD editing without using compression or image degradation, and lets users view HD on Apple Cinema HD displays using the “Digital Cinema Desktop” feature.
DVD Studio Pro 3 is the most recent version of Apple’s pro-level DVD authoring software. It includes extensive transition support, with the ability to blur, wipe and rotate without building a separate track. A new Graphical View enables users to visualize their DVD project’s workflow. DVD Studio Pro 3 also features Compressor 1.2, Apple’s digital media encoding and compression tool.
Final Cut Pro HD was released in April and DVD Studio Pro 3 first began shipping in May. Motion was just released on Tuesday. Separately each software application would cost US$1,797, but Apple is offering the Production Suite bundle for $1,299. What’s more, users of Final Cut Pro can upgrade to the Production Suite for $699.
