British developer Microspot Ltd. has announced that its 3D modeling application Microspot Modeler 3.5 is now compatible with Mac OS X. The software allows you to build and render 3D models in real-world dimensions, viewing the results as you work. Modeler can be used as stand-alone software or as a companion to Microspot Interiors, which allows you to preview interior decoration decisions; you can employ Modeler to create furniture and other items for use with Interiors.
Modeler 3.5 features 10 modeling tools, a 3D text tool, 18 palettes for accessing various options as well as saving objects for easy retrieval, basic rendering during creation with the ability to add anti-aliasing and shadows in the final product and more. Files can be exported in such formats as .bmp, .jpg, .psd, .tiff and others. Microspot informed MacCentral that current users of the company’s 3D World application will soon receive offers to upgrade to 3D Modeler, and those who have registered copies of Interiors can save 40 percent off the purchase of Modeler, with no expiration date for the special offer. A full license for the software is £79 (US$129), with the option to save 10 percent by downloading it from the Microspot Web site, which does not list system requirements.
