Allume Systems Inc., which recently changed its name from Aladdin Systems Inc. as part of a court settlement, announced on Tuesday the release of Spring Cleaning 7.0. The upgrade to the company’s uninstaller and system clean-up tool adds several new features, including System Snapshot, which allows you to see exactly what changed on your Mac after installing or updating software; a Size Manager utility that shows how much space specific files and folders take up on your hard drive; Logs and Temporary Items Finder, which clears temporary and log files; and the ability to save customized file searches. In addition, the user interface has been upgraded and QuickCompare has been enhanced to allow you to drag files, folders, applications or resource forks to its icon and automatically enter them as items of comparison.
Upgrades from previous versions of Spring Cleaning, or competing disk utilities from other companies, are US$19.99, while the full version is $49.99. System requirements call for Mac OS X v10.2 or higher, a PowerPC processor, 8MB RAM, CarbonLib 1.6, 43MB of hard drive space and QuickTime 6.0. The System Snapshot feature requires Mac OS X v10.3.
