On Tuesday, palmOne Inc. announced that its first Wi-Fi card for the Tungsten T3 and Zire 72 handhelds will be available in early September. The US$129 card is designed to complement the devices’ built-in Bluetooth capability with 802.11b technology that allows wireless access to the Internet whenever the user is within range of a Wi-Fi access point or hotspot. It fits into the handheld’s SDIO slot and searches for available Wi-Fi networks when the user taps the setup icon on the screen. palmOne had not yet placed a product page for the new card on its Web site as MacCentral posted this article.
