Aurora Video Systems on Tuesday introduced PipeStudio, a new US$1,999 video capture and editing solution designed for Mac OS X. The system consists of software, a PCI-based capture card and a Break Out Box (BOB) that enables users to capture audio and video through a variety of interfaces. Support includes 10-bit composite, 10-bit S-Video, 10-bit component video, 10-bit SDI and DV, and balanced and unbalanced analog and digital audio, and SDI embedded audio.
PipeStudio supports the RT Extreme capabilities of Final Cut Pro, according to Aurora, and also includes a software application that enables users to control the BOB from outside Final Cut Pro, turning PipeStudio into a real-time converter. PipeStudio includes RS-422 serial port integration so you can connect it to a video deck, and it includes genlock input too.
