Eovia Corp. on Tuesday introduced Carrara 4, a new version of its 3D modeling, animation and rendering software for Mac and Windows. The new Carrara 4 replaces Carrara Studio 3 and will be available in both Pro and Standard versions. Coming in October, it will be priced at US$599 for the Pro version, $299 for Standard. Upgrades from previous versions are also available.
New features in Carrara 4 include improved interchange with Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator, Corel Painter, Macromedia Shockwave and Flash, Apple Final Cut Pro, Avid Xpress, Adobe Premiere and After Effects. A new terrain editor is included, along with scene manipulators, better inverse kinematics (IK), improved motion paths, timeline support and more. The Pro version gains multi-node distributed rendering capability, vector and 3D motion blur effects, extended file support and other improvements.
Eovia had posted the Carrara 4 press release to its Web site as MacCentral posted this article, but the site did not include updated information about the new version.
