Aspyr Media Inc. noted Thursday that its Macintosh conversion of the hit Star Wars-themed role playing game Knights of the Old Republic (KOTOR) has gone gold master, the last step before the game is duplicated and hits store shelves. Aspyr expects KOTOR to ship on September 14, 2004, with arrival on store shelves on September 19, 2004.
KOTOR brings players to a time 4,000 years before the events seen in the Star Wars motion pictures, when the Republic is threatened by a conflict waged between the Jedi Knights and the Sith. You play a Force-adept adventurer who is gradually drawn in to the conflict, but your actions and your demeanor determine whether you become a Jedi or embrace the Dark Side of the Force.
System requirements call for Mac OS X v10.3.4 or later, G4/G5 1GHz or faster, 256MB RAM, 4.2GB hard disk drive space, ATI Radeon 8500 or Nvidia GeForce 2MX or better 3D graphics with at least 32MB VRAM, and DVD drive. Knights of the Old Republic is available for US$49.99.
