EditShare LLC announced on Wednesday that version 2.0 of its media management software EditShare will be released in October. The upgrade expands the base storage of entry level set-ups to 2TB — scalable to 12TB in a rack mount version — and adds several new management features, including a graphical representation of occupied disk space. The system ships with a Windows server, but it’s capable of supporting Final Cut Pro and Avid Xpress workstations, with the ability to share media files between 10 computers. EditShare said that it will announce pricing at the time version 2.0 ships, although customers who purchase version 1.5 between now and then will be able to upgrade for free.
