Developer Hamrick Software has announced that VueScan, its utility for enhancing scanned-in digital images, now support Epson’s 2480 and 2580 scanners as well as 43 models of Hewlett-Packard’s OfficeJet/PSC multi-function devices and the Plustek OpticFilm 7200 and Microtek i900 scanners. In addition, the version 8.0.14 release improves its automatic white balance capability for more lifelike colors and features a variety of performance improvements and bug fixes.
This is a free upgrade for those who have use the Professional version or who have owned the Standard version for no more than one year. The Standard version (US$59.95) lacks the ability to create raw scan files, generate ICC profiles and color spaces and calibrate IT8 colors. You can upgrade to the Professional version ($79.95) for $20.
