MacWeb.com, which was previously known as Web Broadcasting Corp., has announced the immediate availability of the Beta of iApp Server 1.0, a middleware tool that installs as an Apache 1.3 module in Mac OS X and enables custom Web publishing with FileMaker Pro 7. The software supports relational and portal fields; running ScriptMaker scripts; browsing, sorting, creating and editing database records; HTML template files as a native file format; and more.
iApp Server 1.0 also uses Server-Side Rendering (SSR) and Saved Actions, with the former enabling automatic selection of select menu options and checkbox and radio button input fields, as well as automatic population of text type input fields. The latter creates pre-defined data source calls that can query or modify a target database table.
MacWeb.com didn’t say when the Beta testing period will end, but it did note that iApp Server will sell for US$495 upon its release. System requirements call for Mac OS X v10.3, Apache 1.3, FileMaker Pro 7 or FileMaker Pro 6 Unlimited, open databases and the Web server set up to run as a logged-in console user.
