Storage peripheral maker WiebeTech LLC on Wednesday announced the release of new PCI and PC card FireWire host adapters and a new transportable FireWire enclosure capable of holding up to two terabytes (TB) of internal storage.
The US$89.95 FireWire 800/400 PCI Host Adapter is compatible with Mac OSX, Windows and Linux and includes two FireWire 800 and one FireWire 400 interface. The FireWire 800/400 Cardbus Host Adapter works with PowerBooks and PC laptops equipped with PC Card interfaces and includes two FireWire 800 and one FireWire 400 interface, as well as a DC power jack to provide bus power when necessary.
WiebeTech’s new RT5 enclosure includes a carrying handle for transportation, and sports dual FireWire 800 ports as well as a USB 2.0 port. The system includes five front-accessible drive bays with trays and can be configured from a front panel for RAID level 0, 0+1, 1, 3 or 5. Prices start at US$1,699.95 for the basic unit without drives; the fully-loaded 2TB model costs $4,699.95.
