RedleX on Thursday released Mellel 1.8, an update to their multilingual word processor now with support for OpenType. Other changes include enhanced outline support based on document content rather than paragraph styles; enhanced support for languages and other improvements. Mellel’s claim to fame is its support of non-Roman languages like Syriac, Hebrew and Arabic, Chinese, Japanese and Korean, but the word processor has also gained popularity as a compact and inexpensive alternative to more expensive offerings. The upgrade is free for registered users. A full license costs US$39.
