on Thursday released Mellel 1.8, an update to their multilingual word processor now with support for OpenType. Other changes include enhanced outline support based on document content rather than paragraph styles; enhanced support for languages and other improvements. Mellel’s claim to fame is its support of non-Roman languages like Syriac, Hebrew and Arabic, Chinese, Japanese and Korean, but the word processor has also gained popularity as a compact and inexpensive alternative to more expensive offerings. The upgrade is free for registered users. A full license costs US$39.
