Ranchero Software has introduced a new Weblog editing utility called MarsEdit, and has also debuted a publicly available beta version of its next major release to NetNewsWire, its Rich Site Summary (RSS) Web newsreader for Mac OS X.
With NetNewsWire 2.0, Ranchero software has decoupled integrated Weblog editing capabilities and offloaded it to external editors. While there are several Weblog editing applications already available from third parties, Ranchero has introduced its own, MarsEdit. MarsEdit makes “writing for the web like writing email,” according to the developer. It’ll be a free upgrade for registered NetNewsWire 1.x users.
NetNewsWire 2.0b3 introduces a new streamlined architecture and interface, and adds searching, flagged items, persistence, tabbed browsing, smart lists, search engine subscriptions, script subscriptions, built-in styles and more. It is also a free upgrade for NetNewsWire 2.x users. 2.0b3 is the first public beta version.
