Alias on Monday announced the completion of its acquisition of 3D character animation and motion editing software developer Kaydara, makers of MotionBuilder. The planned acquisition was first announced in early August. In a statement, Alias called the acquisition the “first major step since finalizing its independence from SGI.”
Kaydara will continue to operate in Montreal, Canada, with President Michel Besner staying with the company as an Alias executive. Kaydara MotionBuilder will remain available for the Mac and PC, according to Alias. A new version, MotionBuilder 6, is expected to ship this fall.
