Every year, Macworld caps off the year by recognizing the top Mac hardware and software that came out during the past 12 months with our Editors’ Choice Awards. We hand out Eddy Awards to the products our editors think are the best, the most innovative, or simply the coolest. We’re doing it again this year for the 20th annual edition of our awards, with the winners appearing in our February 2005 issue.
The Eddys may reflect our picks for the best products of the year, but the search process is a little more complicated than that. Every product that comes out during the eligibility period—November 1, 2003 to November 1, 2004—gets our consideration. And the eventual winners go through a rigorous review process, just to ensure that they truly are the best of the best.
It’s a long, thorough process. And this year, for the 20th annual installment, we figured: why should we have all the fun?
We’re creating two special awards this year, with both winners selected by Macworld readers. We know our readers are a savvy bunch, with pretty strong opinions on just about everything—just visit our forums to see for yourself. So why not let the readers have their say?
But before we hand out the Readers’ Choice Eddy Awards for hardware and software of the year, we need some nominations. And again, we’re turning over the process to you. Which products do you think should be on the online ballot? Which hardware products do you think are the best? How about software? Leave your nominees in the comments space of this Weblog entry. We’ll take your nominations through October 15; then we’ll come back with a nominee list for your final selection.
Let the debate begin.
