Helsinki, Finland-based Coxion Oy on Wednesday released WebBox S10, a tri-band General Packet Radio Service (GPRS) networking card that supports Mac and Windows. The S10 provides 900/1800/1900MHz data connectivity that’s compatible with Global System for Mobile Communications (GSM)-based cell telephone networks in more than 160 countries on five continents. The card fits in the PC Card slot of thus-equipped PowerBook models and features a flexible, removable antenna.
While Coxion Oy’s software allows users to utilize data networks right out of the box, the company says the WebBox S10 is also compatible with third party Short Message Service (SMS), fax and GSM calling software. It’s compatible with Mac OS X v10.3 or later. The WebBox S10 costs €260 (US$318.50).
