Aspyr Media Inc. on Wednesday announced that its Mac conversion of Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell began shipping earlier this week. The company expects the game to be widely available in stores by October 11. Splinter Cell is a third-person stealth action game featuring covert agent Sam Fisher as he investigates a dark conspiracy that threatens to unleash a nuclear conflict. Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell costs US$39.99. System requirements call for Mac OS X v10.2.8 or later, G4/867MHz or later, 256MB RAM, 1.7GB hard disk space and 3D video graphics with 32MB VRAM.
In related news, Aspyr also noted on Wednesday that its Mac conversion of another Tom Clancy-licensed military thriller. Rainbow Six 3: Athena Sword has reached its beta development milestone. The game is on track for a November release. This expansion pack to Rainbow Six 3: Raven Shield continues the counter-terrorist operations as Team Rainbow tracks the remnants of an international terror network first seen in the original game. The expansion pack will require the full game to operate, and is available for pre-order for $29.99. System requirements call for Mac OS X v10.2.8 or later, G3/733MHz or faster, 256MB RAM, 3.2GB hard disk space, 32MB VRAM and 8x CD-ROM. Network play is Mac to Mac only and supports GameRanger, the Mac-only online game matching service.
