Reuters UK reports that Apple will expand its iTunes Music Store to serve several additional European countries. Speaking at the Popkomm conference in Berlin, Apple’s vice president of applications, Eddie Cue, told reporters the new store would include five new western European countries, though he didn’t specify which.
Currently, individual iTunes Music Stores are available in Britain, France, Germany, and the U.S. In order to shop at these stores, customers must have a credit card issued in the store’s host country. For example, to purchase music from the German iTunes Music Store, you must have a credit card issued in Germany. With that card, you can shop the store from anywhere in the world. Apple hasn’t revealed how it will handle transactions in such a multi-national store.
