Beaverton, Ore.-based e-on software on Thursday announced that it’s shipping Vue 5 Esprit, the latest major release of the company’s 3D scenery creation and animation software for Mac OS X and Windows. New features include support for global illumination and radiosity, procedural terrains with sub-pixel detail, an advanced atmospheric engine, more realistic 3D trees and plants, High Dynamic Range Image (HDRI) and Image Based Lighting (IBL) support, advanced OpenGL-based previewing and much more. The full Vue 5 Esprit package includes 2 CDs that include more than 50 tree and plant models, more than 160 atmospheres, 460 materials, 250 high-quality 3D objects and more than 70 example scenes. It costs US$249; upgrades from previous versions cost $149 or $129, depending on when it was purchased. Sidegrades and educational discounts are also available. System requirements call for Mac OS X v10.2 or higher, G4/1.25GHz or faster, 100MB free hard disk space, 512MB RAM, 1024×768 pixel resolution with 16-bit color.
