New Zealand-based Mac software developer SubRosaSoft Ltd. on Friday announced the release of DesktopEarth 3D v3.0, a utility that uses a combination of satellite imagery and calculated data to display the planet Earth. It shows real time cloud maps, simulated horizons and live pictures of the moon and sun, and can post images as desktop wallpaper as well. This new version adds a 3D screen saver, a new streamlined user interface, improved help file and more. It costs US$14.95, and upgrades from the previous release are free. System requirements call for Mac OS X v10.2 or higher.
