Native Instruments announced on Friday the introduction of Battery 2, a sequel to the company’s Battery drum sampler that includes more than 3.5GB of drum and percussion samples. It also offers 256 voice polyphony, support for hard disk streaming, a new visual mapping editor, new sampling features and more. In addition, Battery 2 sports a customizable user interface and the ability to read more sample formats than its predecessor, including Kontakt, Gigasampler and Rex 1/2, with a browser for importing files. It will come with an updated and optimized version of the Battery 1 library when it ships in November. Pricing will be US$229 (€199) for the full version and $119 (€99) for upgrades. System requirements were not announced.
