Brother International Corp. introduced on Friday four new inkjet Multi-Function Center printers aimed at small and home office users. Expected to ship later this month, the additions to the company’s line-up includes two sheet-fed models, MFC-3240c and MFC-3340cn, and two flatbed models, MFC-5440cn and MFC-5840cn. All four offer color faxing, color printing up to 6000 x 1200 dpi resolution, computer-based faxing and color copying and scanning. They also include USB 2.0 ports that can accept Brother’s optional Wi-Fi adapter for wireless printing.
The 3240c (US$129.99) and 3340cn ($159.99) models feature print speeds as fast as 20ppm in black and 15ppm in color, a 20-page auto document feeder, a front loading 100-sheet paper try and 2400dpi color scanning. The 3340cn differs in the addition of an Ethernet port and Brother’s PhotoCapture Center, which consists of slots for CompactFlash, xD Picture Card, Secure Digital, Memory Stick and SmartMedia memory cards. It also has 16MB of memory while the 3240c has 8MB.
The 5440cn ($149.99) and 5840cn ($199.99) feature the same print speeds and color scanning resolution as the other two models but both of them offer Ethernet ports, and the 5840cn adds on the PhotoCapture Center as well as dual paper trays with a total capacity of 350 sheets.
