PalmOne Inc. on Monday introduced the Tungsten T5, the company’s latest high-end PDA. The new T5 sports flash memory that will retain data even if the device’s battery discharges, a 320 x 480 pixel color screen, Bluetooth standard and more. PalmOne expects the new executive PDA to hit stores on Nov. 4 for US$399.
The new PDA runs Palm OS 5.4, and uses a 416MHz Intel Xscale processor. It measures 4.76 x 3.08 x 0.61 inches and weighs 5.1 ounces. The T5 features 256MB of memory, 215MB of which is accessible and can be mounted on the Mac or PC desktop as a USB drive; 160MB of the flash memory appears as an internal flash drive, and the remaining 55MB is reserved for applications and data. An expansion slot can be used for additional memory or other capabilities, and supports SD, SDIO and MultiMediaCard formats. System requirements call for Mac OS X v10.2.6 or higher.
