Griffin Technologies LLC (no relation to radioSHARK maker Griffin Technology) on Tuesday shipped SecuriKey for Macintosh Professional Edition, a USB-based authentication solution for users of Mac OS X v10.2 or higher. The system combines a password with a USB token to help make sure that the only people who are using the Mac are the ones who should use the Mac. If the USB device is removed, the computer is locked. Users can also configure the software to allow for partial access without user authentication if necessary; separate accounts are also supported with the purchase of additional tokens. SecuriKey USB tokens can fit on keyrings. SecuriKey for Macintosh Professional Edition costs US$129; that price includes security software for Mac OS X and Windows and two USB tokens. Additional tokens cost $49.95 each.
