IBM is sponsoring the Linux on Power Open Source Developer Contest. Up for grabs is a Toyota Prius, cash prizes, and 100 Power Mac G5s equipped with Y-HPC Linux from Terra Soft Solutions Inc. The Power Open Source Developer Contest, open to US residents online, hopes to showcase applications designed specifically for Linux running on the PowerPC architecture. IBM hopes the contest will raise developer awareness of Linux running on the platform and help spur the development of new applications for PowerPC-based Linux. Contest registration ends October 31, 2004 — prizes will be awarded around December 24, 2004. Visit the Web site for details.
