On Wednesday, The Omni Group released the first Beta for OmniWeb 5.1, an incremental upgrade to the company’s Web browser that will be released soon. The new version fixes bugs and offers several performance tweaks, such as the use of Apple’s Java plug-in for Java applets, the ability to tab between form elements and more. Owners of OmniWeb 5.0.1 will be able to upgrade to version 5.1 for free when it’s released. New users can download this Beta and launch it on 30 separate days before having to buy a US$29.95 license key; the final release of OmniWeb 5.1 will reset the demo period. OmniWeb 4.x users can upgrade for $9.95. Mac OS X v10.2 is required.
