Digitalway MPIO on Monday introduced three new portable digital music players compatible with both Macs and PCs that can play MP3, WMA, ASF and OGG-format files. The new line includes two new flash-based players and one hard disk player equipped with 20GB of storage capacity.
The FL300 is available in 128MB and 256MB capacities and sports a clock and alarm. It measures about half the size of a pack of gum and can also be used as a portable storage device. It features an internal lithium polymer battery that can be recharged when the device is attached to the USB port. It also sports a seven-band equalizer (EQ), carrying case and armband. The 128MB and 256MB models are available for US$99.99 and $129.99 respectively.
FY400 incorporates an FM tuner, voice recorder, data storage and retractable USB 2.0 connector. It’s available in 128MB, 256MB and 1GB capacities and features a four-line display, five-directional key, volume dial and seven-band EQ. The 128MB, 256MB and 1GB models cost $119.99, $149.99 and $219.99 respectively.
The HD300 model sports 20GB of storage capacity, along with the other premium features seen in the FY400 — voice recorder, FM tuner, seven-band EQ and more. It features USB 2.0, an eight-line display and four-direction touch sensor button. MPIO also touts the HD300’s “Walk Office” technology, a word processing, spreadsheet and presentation graphics application suite that runs in Java and works on Macs and Windows PCs. The HD300’s suggested retail price is $279.99. (Updated Web pages for the FY400 and HD300 were not available as MacCentral posted this article.)
