XMPie on Monday announced uDirect for Adobe InDesign CS. The Mac and PC-compatible software enables InDesign users to produce personalized Variable-Data Print (VDP) documents. It’s a standalone application that integrates with InDesign CS as a plug-in. Features include support for an unlimited number of variable elements and dynamic design objects; auto-definition of business rules, extraction of field headers from the data source and population of content objects; point-and-click support to link elements with variable data, an advanced “rule editor,” and integration with XMPie’s PersonalEffect system for further support of cross-media communication, multiple database connections and other features.
uDirect costs US$2,500 — that includes support for PDF and one additional output format defined by the user. Additional output formats are available separately through the Adobe Store. A 60-day trial version of the software is available for download from Adobe’s Web site.
