Accordance Systems announced on Tuesday the release of its new M100 IDE RAID controller, which packs a pair of 2.5-inch laptop drives into the same space typically occupied by a 3.5-inch desktop hard or optical drive. The M100 maintains identical copies of data on each of its drives, which can be hot-swapped in the event of failure. An LCD display, LED indicators and an audible alarm alert users to potential problems. Pricing is US$399. While Accordance’s Web site doesn’t list the Mac OS under system requirements, a company representative confirmed with MacCentral that the M100 is compatible with Mac OS X and OS 9.
