MMI Software has released an upgrade to Tunes Menu, a free utility that adds a menu for CD searches to Mac OS X’s system menu bar. To use it, click on a song in iTunes and then select Copy and Find in Tunes Menu. It will search online retailers for the best price and return its findings. Click the name of the store you want and Tunes Menu will open your default Web browser, taking you to that site.
While MMI Software’s Web site says that version 1.2 is the latest one available, both Version Tracker and Tunes Menu’s Read Me file note that it has reached iteration 1.3. This upgrade fixes a rare bug found in Amazon.com searches and adds CD WOW! and SecondSpin to its list of American retailers. Tunes Menu also checks CDUniverse and Amazon in the United States; visit the MMI Web site for the online stores supported in other countries. Mac OS X v10.2 is required.
