Digidesign has announced that it is shipping Synchronic, a new Pro Tools plug-in that helps musicians modify audio loops in real time. It consists of five modules: Sound, which can handle up to 12 different mono or stereo audio files; Playback, which enables users to change the output of the Sound module; Effect, which processes Playback’s output with any combination of four in-tempo effects; XFade, a cross-fade module that mixes the output processed by the other modules; and MIDI, which allows users to assign and trigger sound and module present combinations, as well as map MIDI controllers to Synchronic controls.
Synchronic ships with 200MB of royalty-free loops. The software supports the SD II, WAV and AIFF file formats for importing more loops. This plug-in is compatible with Pro Tools|HD, HD Accel, Digi 002, Digi 002 Rack, Mbox and Digi 001 systems that have an iLok USB Smart Key and an iLok.com account. Pricing is US$395. Because the Digidesign Web site uses frames, you must search for plug-ins under “System Options” in the Pro Tools area and then click on Synchronic to view a pop-up window with information.
The company also noted that it will be holding DigiWorld at its headquarters in Daly City, Calif. on Oct. 30 from 10:00 AM to 7:00 PM. The free event will give attendees of the Audio Engineering Conference, which is being held Oct. 28 to 30 in San Francisco, an opportunity to tour the facilities, take Intro to Pro Tools classes, attend whitepaper forums and learn more about the company’s latest products.
