Small Tree Communications announced on Wednesday that the latest release of its InifiniBand networking technology features transfer speeds up to 10Gb per second, the fastest ever offered by the company. The solution couples Mellanox’s hardware with Small Tree’s software and has been certified with Ohio State University’s MVAPICH MPI layer for Mac enterprise and supercomputing applications. Virginia Tech used an earlier version of the technology when it created its cluster of Xserve computers. The InfiniBand Host Channel Adapter is a 64-bit PCI-X card with a clock speed of 133MHz and compatibility with the Power Mav G5 and Xserve G5. Contact Small Tree for pricing.
