Sonnet Technologies introduced on Thursday the Tempo Bridge, an adapter that enables users to install a 3.5-inch parallel ATA drive in a Power Mac G5, which is only compatible with Serial ATA drives. While Serial ATA offers better performance and smaller cables and connectors for increased cooling, many Mac owners need a way to use their old drives in their new computers, and the Tempo Bridge offers that by simply plugging into the old drive, which can then be installed in the G5.
This adapter is compatible with any 3.5-inch ATA/66, ATA/100 or ATA/133 IDE hard drive and works in any of the Power Mac G5 models released by Apple since the system was first introduced over a year ago. Sonnet expects to ship the Tempo Bridge on Oct. 25 with a price of US$49.95.
