Audio production software developer Gallery UK said on Monday that its latest application, Metacorder 1.0, is now available. Metacorder allows users to connect existing Core Audio hardware and connect it to a PowerBook or iBook to create a fully functional audio recorder for deployment in the field. The software features a 1- to 30-second pre-record buffer, the ability to write a recording to two drives simultaneously, the option to automatically copy files onto optical media as soon as the recording stops and more.
In addition, Metacorder offers metadata functionality that allows users to include a wide variety of information in an audio file in one of several formats, including BEXT and the new iXML. The software supports up to 20 recording channels, works with any Core Audio interface, recognizes Ethernet and Wi-Fi networks, automatically manages file naming and the file system hierarchy, turns a laptop’s hard drive into a FireWire target device for mounting on a desktop system and features compatibility with Avid, Final Cut Pro, Pro Tools and similar applications.
Metacorder works with any computer running Mac OS X and supports all media compatible with that OS, including internal IDE drives, USB 1.1/2.0 and FireWire devices and more. Pricing is €1,595 (US$1,795).
