Ambrosia Software Inc. has made a couple of game-related announcements. The company is working with Uplink developer Introversion Software to produce a Mac OS X version of a new game called Darwinia. The game is described as mixing action and strategy and using a graphical style “ripped from 80’s retro classics.” It has a story that concerns “a tribe of video game sprites trapped in a modern 3D game world.” Ambrosia Software is now accepting applications for beta testers.
Ambrosia is also taking its classic action/role playing game Escape Velocity: Nova from the computer screen to the desktop. The company has announced the Escape Velocity: Nova card-driven board game, developed in conjunction with ATMOS and DG Associates. The premise of the board game is the same as the computer game: You’re a trader captain drawn into a vast plot of interstellar intrigue as you try to amass riches, discover new technologies and complete missions. The US$25 pack includes a game board, pawns, rule sheet, 16 hostile government markers and 120 cards. Expansion packs can also be purchased. The board game will ship in early November.
