Aspyr Media Inc. today offered two patches for games they’ve released in the past, to help improve compatibility and reliability. Tiger Woods PGA Tour 2003 has been updated to v 1.1.1a. This new release sports a bug fix which enables the game to run on Power Macs equipped with video cards that feature more than 128MB of VRAM. Such cards include ATI’s Radeon 9800 XT, Nvidia’s GeForce 6800 GT and Nvidia’s GeForce 6800 Ultra — all of which are build-to-order options on the Power Mac G5. ATI’s Radeon 9800 Pro Mac Special Edition, a $400 retail card especially designed for the Power Mac G5, also falls into this category.
What’s more, Aspyr Media has released Black Hawk Down Mac Patch 1, an update for the modern combat warfare action game set in Somalia in the early 1990s. The new release fixes a problem that otherwise prevented the game from running on certain PowerBooks that incorrectly report their CPU speed under Mac OS X v10.2.8. A random crash bug has also been fixed.
