Japanese developer Recosoft Corp. on Friday announced PDF2Office 2.0 Professional Edition, an upgrade to PDF2Office 1.1 that will ship in December. PDF2Office can convert PDFs to Microsoft Word, RTF, AppleWorks and even graphics files with the original layout retained. It can also extract specific data from a PDF, including text and images.
New features include seamless integration with Microsoft Word X and 2004, which enables the ability to open PDFs in Microsoft Word; a forms processing mode that retains the layout of the PDF forms with a higher degree of accuracy than before; support for Adobe Acrobat 6 documents; and the ability to specify compression and resolution settings when extracting images from PDFs or converting PDFs to a graphic file format.
Anyone who purchases PDF2Office 1.1 after today will receive a free upgrade to the new edition when it ships. After version 2.0 is released, upgrade pricing will be US$59, with the full version selling for $129. Educational licenses will be $89. System requirements were not provided, although the current release requires Mac OS X v10.2 and a G3 500MHz processor. A product page for version 2.0 was not available on the Recosoft Web site as MacCentral posted this article.
