Aspyr Media Inc. on Monday announced plans to publish a Macintosh conversion of Command & Conquer Generals Zero Hour, an expansion pack for the real-time strategy game. Licensed by Electronic Arts, the conversion is currently underway at i5works, a third party Mac game conversion developer frequently used by Aspyr.
C&C Generals Zero Hour is the first expansion pack for Command & Conquer Generals, and it adds more powerful enemies, a new array of weapons and new scenarios, demanding new strategies and tactics as well. 30 new units and 20 new upgrades have been added with this release, and a new Generals Challenge mode pits you against 9 enemy AI-controlled generals. 15 new missions have been added, and new weather effects also add to the challenge. 25 new multiplayer maps have been added too.
The full version of Command & Conquer Generals is required to play Zero Hour; other system requirements call for Mac OS X v10.2.8 or later, G4/1GHz or faster, 256MB RAM, 1.6GB hard disk space, ATI Radeon 7500 or Nvidia GeForce2 MX or better 3D graphics with at least 32MB VRAM and DVD drive. Aspyr Media’s project status page notes this expansion pack is in early development, and plans to release it in February, 2005.
