German developer CrispSofties has released iPod.iTunes 2.7, an upgrade to its utility for synchronizing music and playlists between any iPod and any Mac, including the ability to fully restore a library to a Mac, clone an iPod and more. The new version features compatibility with iTunes 4.5, 4.6 and 4.7 as well as Mac OS X’s FileVault protection and iPod firmware 1.4, 2.2, 2.3, 3.0 and 3.0.1. In addition, you can now choose whether to transfer track ratings, play counts and last played dates when syncing an iPod to a Mac, delete playlists whose names begin with a certain string of characters and more.
iPod.iTunes 2.7 requires Mac OS X v10.2 or higher, iTunes 3.0.1 or higher and iPod firmware 1.0 or higher. This is a free upgrade for registered iPod.iTunes 2.x owners while new users can expect to pay €29.90 (US$38.10) for the full version. Upgrades from version 1.x are €11.90 ($15.16).
