First Intelligent Array (FIA) Inc. on Tuesday introduced the On3 Pro Digital Media Player and Library. Designed to work both in the home and in an automobile, the On3 Pro is an audio video, and digital still image player that stores up to 120GB of data and works with Macs and Windows PCs.
The On3 Pro weighs less than four pounds and measures 2.8 x 7.87 x 5 inches. In addition to working as a home entertainment system component, it can be trunk-mounted, installed under a seat or in the glove box, and can connect directly to an automobile LCD or plasma TV. It can draw power from the automobile cigarette lighter or 12v accessory adapter. It includes an infrared remote control that lets you navigate the hard drive’s contents. Outputs include analog stereo and coaxial and optical digital 5.1, HDTV output with component video, composite, and S-Video connectors and support for NTSC and PAL formats.
The device can play back MPEG-1, MPEG-2, MPEG-4, DivX, XivD, RMP4, MOV and AVI video formats, and supports audio formats including MPEG Audio Layer 1 and 2, MP3, Ogg Vorbis, PCM, WAV, AC3 and ACC. It can also view images in JPEG, GIF, animated GIF and PNG formats. The On3 Pro sports an embedded Linux operating system with integrated media server and operating system. It communicates with a PC or Mac using USB 2.0 or 10/100baseT Ethernet.
FIA Inc. makes the On3 Pro available in 80GB and 120GB capacities for US$499 and $649 respectively.
